Genre: indie rock, dream pop
This is possibly Mew's best album yet. There's really not a bad song on here. You've got the rockin songs which are as good as ever, then you've got the slower, dreamy songs that are way better than on the last few records. Then you get to "Hawaii" and you're like..."Damn." Then there's like more songs! Like NO WAY~! Yes way. And the keyboardist gets a more prominent role instead of just mirroring the vocals parts (which he still does some). Everyone kicked it up a notch, basically. Emeril would be proud.

Really? I found it rather disappointing at first...It's obviously not as epic as ATGHK or Frengers. They should've kept Swimmer's Chant. And the first minute of Reprise sounds exactly like Silas The Magic Car. And what happened to the awesome guitar riffs from IPP?
Who knows, maybe I just need more time to digest this album.
Well ATGHK took a while to grow on me, but I just immediately liked pretty much everything on this album. It has really good flow, although I wouldn't have put tracks 6 & 7 next to each other. I'll agree that it definitely isn't as "epic," but I think I like this better actually. It's like more intimate or something. And jammy.
and as far as comparing to their older albums, this definitely has more memorable songs than Frengers, although that album has three or four of their best songs. this one is more even, I think. the slow songs on Frengers just didn't do anything for me.
and the word "reprise" means "to repeat," so that could be on purpose that it sounds like the other song :)
