Cap'n Jazz Live Set- 7/25/10

Genre: duh

Wondering if the reunited Cap'n Jazz still have the magic? See for yourself with this whole live set. Straight from the soundboard, very good quality.

NYC Taper

(perhaps an excerpt of a statement from the man running sound at the venue will lend itself to your idea of what the recording quality might be -

"I recorded this set as I do all shows at this venue — Neumann’s at the cage mixed with a board feed. On this particular night, the band’s FOH and Maxwell’s superb house soundman worked in perfect unison and the venue sound was mixed to perfection. I am amazed at how good this recording sounds. Enjoy!" )

Monster Machismo - "Aye Aye Porcupine"

So I apologize for basically pposting nothing but computery beat shit....sorrry can't help it....to make up for it it heres a little slice of wickedly ridiculously retarded good instrument playing. The vocals are strange but in an I kind of like that sort of way, and they come in sections, which I appreciate. a lot of good bands have been ruined by obnoxious singers thinking they have to be constantly saying something. This is thankfully not the case here. Power trio guitar drums bass blast of delightful goodness.

Enemies- "We've Been Talking

Genre: post rock, math rock

The new Enemies album is more great stuff from one of my favorite recent bands. Post rock that doesn't get boring and has just enough mathy flair to keep interest. Their last album was great, and this one doesn't disappoint either. Might even be better than the first.

Note: We received some complaints for putting up direct links to albums, so I guess we won't do that for a while, at least on advance releases. But most albums we post can be found at Sordo Music or you can leave a comment and we'll email you a link. Thanks!

fago.sepia- "quatorze"

Genre: math rock, indie

New song from fago.sepia on their MySpace, and I must say it could be the best thing they've done. If a whole album of this caliber material comes out, I will be buying first day.

Sunny, fuzzy anthems about nothing complicated. Amazing summer album, and amazingly catchy. I can see anyone chillin out to this album. Highlights include "When I'm With You," "Boyfriend," and "Goodbye."

Tera Melos Pre-Order

Thought I'd give everyone the heads up about the new Tera Melos album pre-order. Pretty sweet bundles of swag I'd say. Not sure how the actual album will be, we haven't heard anything from it yet if I'm not mistaken. If anyone has some tracks, please share!

Wavves- King of the Beach

Genre: surf pop, pop punk

Stream the new Wavves CD "King of the Beach" at the link below. Much better than the first effort in my opinion. Gone are the lo-fi leanings and left are smart, fast pop punk songs that make you wanna run on the beach and be a kid forever. The late Jay Reatard's backing band makes an appearance for the better. I miss Zach Hill though.
