Victor Villareal- Alive

Genre: acoustic, indie

Pretty good first solo effort for one hell of a guitar player. He's not very much of a singer and these are actually more boring than I would have expected, but there are some good songs (Tracks 7, 10)

I am actually pleasantly surprised with how his record turned out. He is a hell of a guitarist, and the only complaint I have with this record is that he seems to play it too safe. He doesn't really expand on his abilities, but maybe that will come with time. Thanks for posting this!

yeah, i mean this was like in the mid 90's, so he's gotten way better. i was also pleasantly surprised at the somewhat unique tone and ambiance that this record had.

Wait... this record is from the mid 90's, or am I mis-reading that. If that is the case then I'm even happier to have it. He was great with Owls, and this definitely has twinges of that group in it.

yeah, this was like one of the first band things he did. definitely hints at his later work.

Very cool man. After listening a few times, I think the only thing I really don't like is that he uses the same chord progressions over and over. A lot of bands do that from album to album, but most don't just go for it all on one... unless you're Green Day.

this is not from the 90's, it is his newest stuff. he wrote it for his brother, who died recently.

oh shit, you're totally right. i was thinking this was commenting about the Flashlights album the entire time. yeah, this is his newest stuff, sorry steve :P

Awesome. I kinda thought he'd vanished from the Chicago music scene for a while (due to drugs and things of that nature) and had re-established himself as a solo artist. Good deal though - maybe he'll come through Ohio!

Hey Tyler,

This is Adam from Polymer Division. I was wondering if you could re-upload "Alive" once more? Thanks again, hope to share the stage with you guys soon as well!
