The Dave Brubeck Quartet - Time Out

1. "Blue Rondo à la Turk" – 6:44
2. "Strange Meadow Lark" – 7:22
3. "Take Five" – 5:24
4. "Three to Get Ready" – 5:24
5. "Kathy's Waltz" – 4:48
6. "Everybody's Jumpin' " – 4:23
7. "Pick Up Sticks" – 4:16

I knew I would love this album immediately when I heard the crazy 9/8 piano figure that opens "Blue Rondo A La Turk". The use of classically influenced meters in a jazz context is pretty much the main theme of the album. Brubeck's sophisticated arrangements are rounded out by the smooth-but-not-showy alto sax playing of Paul Desmond. Highly recommended.

Great post, but don't forget about Joe Morello on drums - very influential to a lot of influential drummers.
