New Owen song- "Bad Habits"

Genre: acoustic, neo folk

There's no reason to think this Owen album won't be exactly like the last 10 or whatever, but this new song is pretty good. I think it was on Daytrotter or something a while back, but the full band version is much better. You can listen and also pre-order "New Leaves" from the link.

I love Owen - and I definitely think his albums are maturing musically and lyrically. It would make sense now that he's had a kid and tied the knot and all. I've met him a few times, and every time I talk to him, I still can't help but wish that American Football had put out just one more album, but I guess all Mike Kinsella fans wish the same thing.

i don't know if i really see that much maturation in his lyrics, he just went from whining about girls to whining about drunk people and society. there's definitely development in his music though, although there are some really great songs on EP and Nothing for No One Now. and yes, i think anyone that's ever heard American Football wants another album. although One Up Downstairs was pretty close.

Whining about people? What are the songs about that you usually listen to? The cd is supposed to be about maturing. The song is about maturing. I dont know what else you want. The whole point of the song is that his friends are still the rambunctious group of guys they were when they were in college, and although he sometimes misses it, certain things in his daily routine (such as his wife) remind him of how lucky he really is to have grown up.
